before you buy a Flip query Google
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I received a Flip Mino as a Christmas gift in 2008 and I really like the product. However, if you need help from Flip’s customer support you will be very disappointed. Flip’s `customer pledge’ is that they will respond to emails within 4 hours. That is true, Flip responds with an automated email and after that you are on your own. Never, have I ever, encountered such incompetence from a company as I have with Flip. I thought I was alone in feeling like this until I did this query on Google: `Flip video support sucks’ I suggest you do the same before purchasing anything from Flip.

Great Little Camera

This is my second Flip Video Camera. I purchased the original one several years ago. I bought this camera to have improved video quality. I can definitely tell a difference, plus the Mineo which doesn’t use AA batteries, is so light it’s almost not there. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because when I first tried to charge it up, the AC adapter which came as free perk, would not give it a full charge. Tech support suggested I leave it plugged into my high speed USB port on the computer overnight. That worked. I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone who wants fairly good video with little cost and hassle.

I got a Flip camera as a Christmas gift in 2008 and by March I noticed it started having problems holding a charge and when I plugged it into the computer to re-charge it, it didn’t work and the computer didn’t recognize the flip as plugged in. (And it wasn’t the computer’s problem, we tried it on multiple ports and computers, none worked.). Eventually it was dead as a doornail. There was nothing I could do to recharge it or turn it on. This “conveniently” happened right when the 90 day warranty ended. I called Flip customer service and they told me it probably had a bad USB arm and to send it to them and they would try to refurbish it. So I sent it and a month later received a brand new flip camera. I was surprised and pleased. It is now October, I’ve had my 2nd Flip now for about 4 months and the other day I turned it on, it immediately gave me the “low battery” message and 2 seconds later, it died. Plugged it into the computer and the SAME problem happened. Bad USB arm. Computer’s don’t recognize it as plugged in. Won’t charge. Won’t reset. Totally dead. I called Flip again, they refused to help me because I was past my warranty. I explained to them they helped me the first time I was past my warranty and sent me a new one, however, this time they told me all they could do was extract the video’s for me and send me back the broken Flip. I am VERY dissapointed in Flip and will not ever buy again. The USB arms are cheaply made and will break within 3-6 months.

I tried charging my brand new Flip video when I opened the box. It comes with an adapter and can also be charged through the USB port on your computer.

The battery status bar showwed about a 35% charge when I started and showed a 35% charge 12 HOURS later. It is supposed to charge in 2 hours. Three calls to tech support later and I was off to the UPS store. I assume Amazon will credit my account. Why would I want a replacement for that poor a product.

Flip Mino – small and simple
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased the Flip Mino to take videos at sporting events and concerts. Easy to take anywhere since it is the same size as a cellphone. It’s simple to use, simple to upload videos with the Flip software, and charges while plugged into computer, although an A/C charger came with it. Video quality was better than expected from such a small device. Software makes it very easy to upload YouTube videos.

This camera is perfect for my 11 year old son. It’s so small he can put it in his pocket and take it with him everywhere. It’s very simple to use and the flip USB is great. No more searching for the write connection cord.I wish it had a bigger viewing screen and more zoom, which is only x2. Amazon had the best price. I paid $129. Other stores were selling it for $199.

I’m pleased with this camera. Easy to use. Video quality is not as good as a couple of other cameras I have but it is good enough. My only regret is I didn’t wait for the HD model. But then again most of the electronic gadjetry I’ve bought is quickly obsolete and if one waits for the next improvement forever one never buys anything.

Fantastic Mino Series Camcorder

This is the COOLEST electronic device that I have purchased

in a long time. (and I buy lots)

I keep it in my purse.

It’s perfect for pets and children because they don’t

usually notice they are being recorded.

We have a new puppy and have some great videos of his

training and playing.

Beats the heck out of the old larger video camera we used

for our children.
