Took a trip to Alabama , in the hills and it got me there…WOW Impressed… Nj to Al no problem… If you think you know a better way dont buy this, just get married and let you other half, tell you were to go. Picture viewer looks well with a memory card…battery life is great , don’t mount it to the wind shield use the sand bag, much better and does not leave a black ring on the glass telling people that you have a GPS and bang it gone from the car. Local traffic feature ( at a cost) is only good if you live near or in a big city.

Failed after only 1 year!

I am so horribly disappointed in this unit. It functioned well for almost exactly a year. It would sometimes direct me on odd routes that I wouldn’t have chosen, but I’m not too picky in general, so no big deal. I like the features it offer(ed). The unit was well-cared for, yet several weeks ago it began to be unable to “Aquire Satellites”. I went to Garmin’s website and performed all the recommended actions (reset, updates) but to no avail. I emailed customer service and they told me there was nothing else they could do unless I had my receipt/proof of purchase. Well, maybe I’m remiss, but if I have an item that I’ve been using for nearly a year and it’s been functioning, then I don’t hang on to the receipt/box. Silly me. I can certainly say that if Garmin doesn’t repair my unit or credit me towards another, I will be buying my next GPS from one of their major competitors.

Caution with FM transmitter cable

I purchased the GPS through Amazon-not a problem there. I like the unit itself and its display. As others have mentioned-the traffic avoidance choice is not always faster. It is, for the most part, accurate…occasional dead end street problems. I have had it for 1 1/2 years-purchased the traffic subscriptions and as of last week, have a broken FM transmitter power cord. There are lots of other owners(read other reviews)who have had the same problem (who knew?)so beware. They cost alot of money to replace and it seems one doesn’t really have a choice especially because one has already purchased the subsciption. Why doesn’t Garmin do something about it for their customers? All I ever did was leave it plugged it!

I had this one for less than 2 years. Today I found the internal speaker is dead for no particular reason, a bad product to me.

Nuvi was not new

The only issue I had with the item was that it was not new although it was refubished and in excellent condition. So all in all I’m very happy with the product.

Absolutely love the GPS but the mount sucks

I bought the Garmin Nuvi660 a little over a year ago. The GPS is great however I've had issues with the mount since early on. It's hard to stick it up on the glass and even if I manage to do it the whole thing comes falling down after a few minutes. I wish Garmin would make the accessories as good as the main product.

This is now an old generation GPS now, I have been using it since past 2 yrs without a single problem. It does not freeze like the newer ones these days.. aweome piece of equipment by Garmin.

NUVI 660 Quality

NUVI 660 Stopped working within less than a year. NUVI 660 NA LCD Touch Sensor is not working. I spent more than 450 USD on Amazon.com. Its like a month on savings got wiped away within less than a year.

I would not recommend Garmin Products because of their Bad Quality. They might have lot of Products. But Quality is Important. They are no where close to SONY in terms of Quality.

This one does it all – and does it well. Typical Garmin high quality. Very clear voice providing directions – I like the British lady best – bluetooth connects easily and work well, however FM feature does not (maybe I should read the instructions). Not worth what Grmin would charge but available for much less through Amazon.

Good GPS, but wish that Google made these instead of Garmin

I liked a lot about this GPS, and I disliked a lot. Mostly, it took me about a month to finally get used to the controls and operating system. During that month, I was really bugged at the programming of the GPS. It seemed like they tried to completely reinvent the wheel over and over again.

It's a nice GPS, and I used it as much as a walking GPS as a car GPS. It's nice to slide into my pocket, and good to use in the car. I travelled a lot since I bought this, and it's been really cool to mark all of the cool places I've been in the world on this GPS.

There are tons of little things that bug me about this.
*There appears to be no way to get my save points out of the GPS and on to my computer
*Garmin takes a while to get road changes into their computer. It seems their maps are about six to twelve months behind Google Maps.
*I turned the voice off, and forgot how to get it back on. I'm sure I could figure it out, but it would probably take me about an hour to just complete this task.
*If you're going to use this as a walking GPS, you also need to buy a pocket compass. It's not too bad, because they're cheap.
*And many more.

Other random thoughts:
*Almost everyone has one of these, so learning the arcane and weird operating system is probably a good investment. I showed a taxi driver how to use his, to help us find a bar by the airport in a city in California
*I tried the stuff to mount this in my car, but opted for just letting it sit in the passenger seat instead.
*I tried the traffic thing, and it was pretty cool. Once it told me to take an exit off the freeway and get back on the freeway, because traffic was at a standstill. That saved me about five minutes and was really cool. Nifty as it was, there's no way I'd pay any more money for it though.
*I used this a lot out of the country, and it's got a very basic map of the world. I wish it wasn't so cost prohibitive to get additional worldwide maps.

As a warning, make sure you re-download the maps after your first year purchase anniversary. Mark your calendar for 11 months out. I waited 13 months, and now they want to charge me a bundle, where if I would have downloaded only a month earlier, it would have been free.

My next unit will probably be a TomTom, such as TomTom GO 720 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator.
