I love it !
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Amazed… That’s what I am. First by the speed of the delivery. I placed my order friday, monday the package was delivered. As I am french and used to the slightly longer delivery times of my home country, I couldn’t help but be delighted to have my Kindle in my hands monday evening !
As for the device itself, I was slightly surprised by its weight ! It looks almost unsubstantial in the pictures but it has a pleasant weight, and still stays light enough to be held in one hand without problem. It looks more fragile than it feels. That’s a good point.
As for reading, well, the book lover that I am was delighted. It’s a page. Like a book page. Enough already with the pointless debate – as in “I love the feel of the book, I love to turn the pages, and so on and so forth…”. I love to read. Period. I read books, I read newspapers on the internet, I read magazines. I don’t care for the paper, I just READ ! So even if I love my books, and don’t plan of emptying my bookshelves anytime soon, the idea of going on vacation with 10 or 20 books stashed in my Kindle just makes me extatic ! I will go on reading books, and add the Kindle to my reading habits. And reading on the Kindle screen really is pleasant and natural, not to mention that my 47 year old eyes love the possibility of adjusting the text size !
So now, all I have to do is wait for the silicon skin I ordered to protect my Kindle, and read ! I have the feeling I am entering the future of books… Once man wrote on stone tablets. Wax. Parchment. Skins. For a few centuries we have used paper. This is just a normal evolution in a digital age. And what matters is reading, when all is said and done.
Good, except for college or graduate class books
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I really enjoy the kindle…
Just be aware that if you use a kindle for college or graduate classes, they do not accept “locations” as a valid reference for bibliographical work. So if you quote from a Kindle you need to find the page number from the original written book. Kindle uses “location” instead of pages because of the font options. Different size fonts mean different pages. So check with your professors and schools to find out if they will use “locations” instead of “pages” for referencing.
It would have been helpful for me to know this before I bought over half my class books through Kindle.
Kindle Dream
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
How I dream of reading books on Kindle!Due to such salty price plus heavy tax charged by my country it has to stay just a dream (yet) to be kept in the leather case I’ve already ordered. Howver be sure that Amazon.com is very very much ahead in reading device revolution. Others are just leaving the start line of this race. Congratulations!
Barnes and Noble nook is a better buy
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Comparing the Amazon Kindle and a Barnes and Noble nook is not even a contest! The nook holds up to 17,500 titles and is under the AT&T plan as 3G, therefore I don’t have to have a separate provider. Not only is the nook smaller and easier to travel with, but it also has a longer lasting battery life. My eyes aren’t what they used to be, and its nice that I can change the size of the digital ink text to fit my needs. Not that I have 17,500 books to hold, but the nook comes with a default size amount of holding 1,500 books, newspapers, and magazines. Buying a memory chip will enhance your nook by being able to hold up to the grand amount of 17,500. The kicker to this wonderful little gadget is that I can share books with my husband. The nook has a bluetooth device which makes it easy for me to send a book of mine and for him to borrow it for two weeks! Unlike the Kindle, the nook also has a ton of more titles to choose from. The kindle has thousands, the nook has 1,000,000 titles! Not having the best education when I was younger has meant for me that I don’t know what a lot of words mean in a lot of my favorite fiction stories, so it is nice to be able to highlight a word and look up the definition right then and there. Ending my rating, I’ll tell tell you that the designs for there nook covers are high class and creative and keep my nook safe when I travel. Don’t take my word for it though, go look for yourself!
New Kindle Price
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’ve been saving forever to get a Kindle now they have raised the price $40.00.
I dont care if it works in other countries or not, I never travel. Now I have to pay extra for somthing I will never use. I am really dissapointed in this. Will it be even more expensive next month ?

I love my Kindle! It is the best purchase that I have ever made. I look forward to using for many years to come. Thank you Amazon.
5 stars BUT…
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Bought K2 US version in advance for my husband’s birthday. Then less than 2 weeks later, the International version came out, and the latest price drop followed. Am disappointed I didn’t know to wait for the International version because returning my K2 now plus restock fee wouldn’t be worth it. I was able to at least get the $ credit to reflect the new lower price.
International Kindle works in Australia
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I ordered my International Kindle 2.0 on Thursday and it turned up in Australia on the Tuesday. Not bad for international postage of $12.
For those wondering, the whispernet works superbly here in Australia. Less than 1 minute download.
The version 2.0 is sleek and smooth.
Only bummer is that it doesnt come with a cover and I can only charge via USB connected to a computer.
Trade up to DX?
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I love the Kindle and use it everymorning for my Local News (Las Vegas Review Journal) and a few national papers, also for 3-4 blogs that I have downloaded daily and weekly. WHAT I WOULD LIKE THOUGH is for Amazon to sell my Kindle for me so I can upgrade to the DX. Amazon will sell your used book for you but not yet your used Kindle. THINK OF THE MARKET GROWTH for a used, perfect condition Kindle for only $150 or so. OR just take it in trade in for a DX or Kindle 3 whenever that comes out.
Think about it Amazon! But I love the Kindle.
